On Saturday the 28th June, the whole of Rotherham Acrobatic Gymnastics Club came together to showcase their talents at the annual display. Two packed audiences witnessed an entertaining mixture of routines that included dance, acrobatic gymnastics, tumbling and balancing by gymnasts of all ages and abilities. The theme of the presentations was ‘Next Generation’, and the gymnasts had chosen a variety of lively pieces of music that many of the adults in the audience could sing along to.
The two hour action packed display allowed parents to see the skills that the children have been learning throughout the year, from a one handed cartwheel to an impressive Arabian. Group routines performed by the different squads were intermingled with routines performed by gymnasts who had recently returned from the National Championships, showing the strength in depth that the gym club possesses.
The proceedings were also watched by the Chairman of the Acrobatic Technical Committee, Mr Mike Hull and Tim Wild, Chief coach of Halifax Sports Acrobatics. Both are great friends of the club, who provide support and guidance when necessary. During the day, they kindly presented the annual awards that recognised good attendance, performance, dedication, skill and attitude.
Many thanks must also go to the committee, whom without their help; the day would not have been possible. From making cakes; wrapping up raffle prizes and serving on the counter, these dedicated individuals ensured that the day ran smoothly.
Overall, a great day was had by all, and the proceeds will go towards equipment that will allow all the children to progress, no matter their level of ability.
